FAQ

What should I wear?

We generally advise patients to wear something comfortable. You may not necessarily exercise at your first visit, but there could be some stretching and manual manipulation. If you are participating in aquatherapy, a bathing suit is required.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Your doctor or therapist will perform a detailed musculoskeletal evaluation and an explanation of the treatment plan or goals. Your treating clinician will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

What is a Physiatrist?

A physiatrist, or rehab doctor, is a medical doctor who specializes in non-surgical and non-medication approach to illnesses and injuries, especially musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.

Physiatrists diagnose, evaluate, and treat patients with limited function resulting from disease, impairments, injuries, or disabilities. Their approach is comprehensive and functional taking into consideration the complexities of movement and how each individual's personal characteristics, activities, and psychosocial experiences impact upon it.

The focus of treatment is to alleviate pain and to restore one's maximum physical, social, and vocational functions as well as to prevent secondary complications of disability. Sports injuries, arthritis, neck, and back pain are just a few of the common conditions we commonly treat.
